Named the 2011 Best Boxer of the Year in Japan, Suzuki’s triumph was significant as he had severely injured his right arm by accidentally smashing into a window the year before. A 12-year boxing veteran, Suzuki is one of the most experienced members of the Japanese squad, and will be fighting in his third AIBA World Championships. Born in Hokkaido and coached by Hirokuni Moto, the orthodox Japanese boxer is rapidly approaching his prime boxing years.
