Family Background : His brothers Adel, Faraj, Mohammad and Ahmad have all represented Jordan in different age groups in the international level. He is the second of six children to Palestinean refugees who settled in Baqa’a.

The second of six children to Palestinian refugees who settled in Baqa’a, his brothers Adel, Faraj, Mohammad and Ahmad have all represented Jordan in different age groups at the international level. The orthodox fighter was the first Jordanian boxer to compete at an Olympic Games when he qualified for London 2012, and he won a gold medal at the Doha International Tournament earlier this year. Al-Matbouli has reached the third round in three previous AIBA World Championships.
