AIBA President welcomes new President of ABAP

AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu welcomed the new president of the Amateur Boxing Association of Philippines Mr. Ricky Vargas as Mr. Vargas and other top ABAP officials paid a courtesy visit to the AIBA President in Taipei on Wednesday.
Dr. Wu gave the ABAP officials an update on the current AIBA projects which include a proposal to the IOC to have women's boxing included in the 2012 Olympic Games, AIBA's new boxing competition - the World Series of Boxing and the Boxing Academy that will hold courses for all practitioners of boxing.
Mr. Vargas stated that the new ABAP is very keen to work closely with AIBA, especially with regards to the new AIBA projects and also showed interest in bidding to host AIBA's sanctioned boxing events.

The AIBA President concluded that the meeting was very productive and is looking forward to a close working relationship with ABAP.
