Boxers stand proud at Closing Ceremony

After nine boxers were given the honour of being the flag bearer for their respective countries during the 2008 Olympic Games opening ceremony, the number almost doubled at the closing ceremony in Beijing, China on Sunday.

A total of 17 boxers carried their country's flag into the "Bird's Nest" Stadium as the 2008 Olympic Games came to a close, including three (marked with *) who carried their country's flag at the opening ceremony.

The boxers who were the flag bearers for their country at the Closing Ceremony were:

Carlos Gongora (75kg quarterfinalist) - Ecuador
Badou Jack* (75kg) - Gambia
Vasyl Lomachenko (57kg Olympic champion and Val Barker Trophy winner) - Ukraine
Vijender Kumar (75kg bronze medallist) - India
Felix Diaz (64kg Olympic champion) - Dominican Republic
Abdelhafid Benchabla (81kg quarterfinalist) - Algeria
Shanin Imranov (57kg bronze medallist) - Azerbaijan
John Jackson (69kg) - Virgin islands
McWilliams Arroyo Acevedo* (51kg quarterfinalist) - Puerto Rico
Yerkebuian Shynaliyev (81kg bronze medallist) - Kazakhstan
Somjit Jongjohor (51kg Olympic champion) - Thailand
Thabiso Nketu (54kg) - Lesotho
Kenny Egan (81kg silver medallist) - Ireland
Khumiso Ikgopoleng (54kg quarterfinalist) - Botswana
