USA Aim to Increase Lead at the Top | 07.08.2008 | With 48 boxing gold medals and a total tally numbering 108, USA will be looking to increase their lead at the head of the pack of medal winners during Olympic Games boxing.
USA's closest rivals - a joint Soviet Union/Russia tally - are 20 medals behind while Cuba and Italy have 55 (which includes an incredible 32 gold medals) and 41 respectively.
Considering that Cuba have only been participating in Olympic boxing since 1960, illustrates the strength of the Central Americans.

Meanwhile the official Technical Meeting was held at the Workers Indoor Arena on Thursday. The AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu joined the AIBA Technical Deleagtes Mr. Terry Smith and Mr. Rudel Obreja as team representatives were given a detailed explanation of competition operations.
