AIBA Disciplinary Code
Today, after the 2007 AIBA Extraordinary Congress approved the establishment of the Disciplinary Code and launch of the Disciplinary Commission, AIBA finally unveils the Code and the Members.
"I am very pleased to unveil the new AIBA Disciplinary Code today. As we all are aware, AIBA is the organization aiming to be the most credible, reliable and transparent for our boxers and global boxing families, and especially to the persons who love our sport." said Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, AIBA President, when expressing his intention to announce the Code.
In addition, Dr Wu also commented "I truly believe that this Disciplinary Code will be able to assist AIBA to be one of the most respected international sports federations and sporting entities around the world".
The Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission is Prof. Piermarco Zen-Ruffinen, lawyer, specialized in sports and administrative law, who after having founded the International Center of Sports Studies (CIES) in 1995 became a Professor at Neuchâtel University Law School in Switzerland.

Mr Pierre Cornu, lawyer, specialized in sports and administrative law. After having officiated as an investigating magistrate, Mr Cornu was nominated as General Prosecutor and is at present the Investigating Magistrate for a Swiss Parliament's Special Investigation.
Mr Angelo Rigozzi, lawyer, specialized in sports, international arbitration, conflicts and international private laws. After having visiting the Harvard Law School, Mr Rigozzi is teaching at the Neuchâtel University Law School in Switzerland and is also representing and advising athletes, clubs, national and international federations, before the CAS or on dispute resolution issues.
Dr Thomas Virgets, Senior Associate Athletic Director of the United States Naval Academy, specialized in health, physical education and exercise physiology. Dr Virgets is the Chairman of USA Boxing and has a large experience in the boxing field. Dr Virgets has published several books on conditioning for boxing and the medical aspects of boxing.
Mr André Gorgemans, Consultant, is providing consulting services for general management and administration to AIBA and is also an IOC advisor for the implementation and monitoring of manufacturer identification guidelines. Mr Gorgemans served several executive positions at Adidas before joining the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) as Secretary General for over 15 years.
AIBA unveils the Code and Commission members at the time of the beginning of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad by expressing its strong will to make the Olympic Boxing Competition as the most successful event in AIBA's Olympic history.
