Historic visit for AIBA President
28.05.2008
The President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and IOC Member Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu joined the delegation of Kuomintang (KMT), the leading political party in Taiwan, for a historical visit to China and a meeting with the PRC President Hu Jintao on Wednesday and Thursday.
The delegation also visited the Olympic venues in Beijing on Thursday. The Chairman of KMT, Mr. Wu Poh-Hsiung, ensured that the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee will participate in the Beijing Olympic Games and fully support the Olympic Movement.
At the meeting with President Hu Jintao, one of the key issues discussed was the launch of direct flights on weekends between Taiwan and China in order to attract more tourists from Mainland China.
