The official signing ceremony for the AIBA World Championships Milan 2009 has successfully taken place in the home of Italian boxing - Milan - on Tuesday.

The AIBA (International Boxing Association) President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu was joined by the Italian Boxing Federation President and AIBA Technical and Rules Commission chairperson Mr. Franco Falcinelli and the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Mr. Andrea Locatelli in signing the host city agreement for the AIBA World Championships Milan 2009.

Dr. Wu acknowledged the hard work of the LOC. "As an architect myself I can appreciate that Milan is a unique city," he said. "It has been unanimously chosen by the AIBA Executive Committee and the decision until now has proven to be right. The LOC, the Italian Boxing Federation and AIBA will work closely together to make sure this will be another great success for AIBA and international boxing. I look forward to returning here in February for the AIBA Executive Commitee meeting where all the members will be able to witness the excellent progress you have made.

"Milan has a strong tradition in boxing and has the structure and skill to make the next edition of the AIBA World Championships the best ever," Mr. Falcinelli said. "Thanks to the support of the AIBA President we are here."

"Our passion is driving us," Mr. Locatelli said. "Through the AIBA World Championships Milan 2009 we hope to place Milan back where it belongs, at the center of the sports world."

The official logo for the AIBA World Championships Milan 2009 was also unveiled.
