AIBA Women's Commission completes 1st meeting of 2008

The AIBA Women's Commission met for the first time this year when the members convened in Christ Church, Barbados on Saturday and Sunday to discuss the latest important issues surrounding female boxing.


The Commission,  chaired by Mrs. Joyce Bowen of Barbados, focused on building the strategic plan towards the 2012 Olympic Games, growing girls' and women's programs worldwide, developing a 2008 World Championships seminar, and collaborating with other AIBA Commissions.

The ambitious plan for the Women's Commission resulted in numerous recommendations, advancing ideas and techniques designed to clarify and amplify women's boxing, which will be put forward at the next AIBA Executive Committee meeting.
