The AIBA office is pleased to introduce new Technical and Competition Rules to the international boxing family including the national member federations/associations. AIBA has undergone a thorough and intensive evaluation in order to prepare the new rules for the better management of all global boxing competitions in the best interest of the boxers and boxing families through the support of the AIBA Technical and Rules Commission chaired by Mr. Franco Falcinelli.
Following the approval of the AIBA EC Bureau on May 26, AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu said, "These new rules are born thanks to the great contribution of the members of the Executive Committee, Reform, and Technical and Rules Commissions. We sincerely appreciate their effort and expertise in striving for the fairest, most transparent and respected boxing competitions in the world. I am very proud of their work and to present these new rules today."
The Chairman of the AIBA Technical and Rules Commission emphasized that; "The rules which we introduce today only apply until the end of the Olympic Games in August," Mr. Falcinelli said. "We will send a new version of the rules immediately once the Olympic Games are over. We decided to send two separate sets of rules in order to prevent any possible confusion in their usage."
A translation of the rules in the various AIBA official languages will be sent to Federations/Associations in printed and electronic versions following the Olympic Games.
