The penultimate day of preliminaries saw 13 Olympians book themselves a spot in the semifinals of the 1st AIBA President Cup in Sinjhuang City, Taiwan on Tuesday.

In the presence of the AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu, the only two Olympians remaining in the 54kg class advanced to the semifinals with Worapoj Petchkoom (THA) and Hoorshid Todjibayev (UZB) comfortably beating Charly Suarez (PHI) 22:1 and Marcel Schneider (GER) 19:12 respectively.

The 57kg class saw two Olympic quarterfinal match-ups with Nicholas Okongo Okoth (KEN) beating Satoshi Shimizu (JPN) RSCI R2 and Arturo Santos Reyes (MEX) beating Zorigbaatar Ehkhzorig (MGL) 17:10. Bahodirjon Sultonov (UZB) beat non-Olympic opposition in Dmytro Bulenkov (UKR) 27:2.

Meanwhile, three Olympic clashes in the 64kg quarters saw Manus Boonjumnong (THA) beat Munkh-Erdene Uranchimeg (MGL) 11:3, Bradley Saunders (GBR) beat Masatsugu Kawachi (JPN) 16:5 and Hamza Hassini (TUN) beat Jonny Sanchez (VEN) 18:7. Beijing-bound Bwalya Hastings (ZAM) also progressed beating Vastiine Adrianni (FRA) 13:9.

Another three Olympians progressed in the 75kg class with Alfonso Blanco (VEN) beating Rasullov Elshod (UZB) 11:3, Vijender (IND) beating Artayev Bakhtiyar (KAZ) 12:7 while Angkarn Chomphupoung (THA) beat Ching-Lin Yang (TPE) 24:7

In the +91kg, Jose Payares (VEN) won his opening bout beating Erkan Teper (GER) 15:14 to set up a semifinal with Alexey Sivko (UKR).

Meanwhile, three Olympic qualified boxers in the 51kg class progressed to Wednesday's final day of quarterfinals with Chauke Jackson (RSA) beating fellow Beijing-bound Anurudha Rathnayake (SRI) 15:13 while Somjit Jongjohor (THA) beat Walid Cherif (TUN) 20:3 and Yunusov Anvar (TJK) beat Kumar Jitender (IND) 9:4. Bernard Ngumba (KEN) meanwhile lost to non-Olympian Tulashboy Doniyorov (UZB) 15:3.
