The 2nd AIBA Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan will enter the semifinal stage on Saturday where forty boxers will compete for 19 Olympic vacancies.

Having started the tournament with 105 competitors, the Olympic qualifier is not at the business end with the semifinal winners of the 48kg-60kg, 75kg and 81kg categories all qualifying for Beijing.

The 51kg and 54kg classes offer a third Olympic ticket so a bronze-medal box off will take place on Sunday.

Only the winners in the 64kg, 69kg and +91kg divisions will book a place on the Beijing place. There are no Olympic vacancies in the 91kg division.  

On today's rest day AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu was received by Nursultan Nazarbaev the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the first part of the day and early in the morning by Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
