The schedule of the 2nd AIBA African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Windhoek, Namibia has been changed in order to better accommodate the high number of preliminary bouts required. With 148 boxers, 104 bouts need to be completed prior to the semifinals therefore the second session of day three has been moved to Thursday's rest day.

"This is to avoid the possible scenario of a boxer boxing twice in one day, which is against AIBA rules," AIBA Technical Delegate Professor Aghajan Abiyev confirmed.

The final session of quarterfinals will take place on Thursday starting at 14:00 (local time) before the first of the semifinal bouts take place on Friday.

The winner's of Friday's semifinals (apart from the 91kg division) will qualify for the Beijing Olympic Games while the losers in the 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg and 81kg divisions will have a second chance to qualify with a box-off for a third Olympic ticket on Saturday.
