A total of 145 boxers from 28 countries have entered the 2nd AIBA African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Windhoek, Namibia for what is effectively the last chance saloon for African boxers wishing to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games.
The official draw took place at the Safari Hotel on Monday and will be followed by the opening ceremony at 14:00 (local time) with the opening bouts taking place at 15:00. Three days of preliminaries will take place before a rest day on Thursday followed by the semifinal bouts on Friday and finals on Saturday.
With two African boxers having qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games at the AIBA World Championships Chicago 2007 and another 29 at the 1st AIBA African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Algeria, another 29 Olympic vacancies are available at this event as per the following distribution.
