After the successful two-day visit to the capital city of Armenia to oversee developments as Yerevan prepares itself to host the much anticipated AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships from 25 November to 8 December, the team of delegates from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) are now ironing out the finer details before completing the tour of all the facilities.
Wednesday saw further meetings with the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs where the main points discussed were the accommodation arrangements and the various hotels at disposal. The Local Organising Committee (LOC) also outlined their promotion strategy as well as elaborating on the sponsors for the event. The visiting delegates were then introduced to the Competition Manager, Mr David Tadevosyan, before detailing the accreditation system that will be implemented for the event.
There were further meetings with the Armenian Federation Staff and Armenian Olympic Committee Staff as the event logo was revealed. The LOC then explained the visa policy where all participants can get their visa upon arrival at Yerevan Airport.
For the event, plans were outlined for a welcome dinner and receptions to be hosted on 28 November after the opening ceremony. The Opening ceremony itself will be organised from 6pm to 7pm with final arrangements to be confirmed at a later stage. TV production is to be reviewed with live broadcasting scheduled for the semi-finals and finals.
The visit continued with further tours of potential training venues before the evening ended with a traditional dinner with customary live Armenian music. The final details of the visit will be reviewed with the final reports and all information to be sent out to all National Federations shortly.
