In order to hunt the country's young talents, the Nepal Boxing Association has recently organised the very first Novice Cup Boxing Championships.

Held at the National Sports Council covered hall in Kathmandu from 22 to 25 August 2012, the Championships have gathered 231 boxers from all over the country. The four-day event featured 109 boxers in the 15 to 18 year age group and 122 in the 18 to 25's.

Sunsari won the U-18 team trophy claiming three gold medals, while Naxal 'A' clinched two gold and one silver to secure the over 18's title. Sushan Manandhar (U-18) and Manik Shahi (over 18) were adjudged the best boxer trophies.
