Morocco delegation welcomed at AIBA headquarters | 12.02.2008 |  AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu welcomed the President of the Morocco Boxing Federation Mr. Abdeljaouad Belhaj and IOC member Ms. Nawal El Moutawakel to the AIBA headquarters as part of a delegation visit from Morocco on Tuesday.
Both Mr. Belhaj and Ms. El Moutawakel took advantage of being in Lausanne for an international conference on the autonomy of sport to visit the home of the governing body of international boxing. Topics of discussion included AIBA's new global project the AIBA Boxing Academy and the status of training of coaches and referees in Morocco.
Dr. Wu was particularly interested in Mr. Belhaj's update on the construction of boxing training centres in Morocco.
Ms. El Moutawakel, an IOC member since 1998, was the first woman from an Islamic nation to win an Olympic medal and the first ever gold-medal winner (in the 400m hurdles) from Morocco.
