The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has just received confirmation that the Commonwealth Games Federation's General Assembly in St. Kitts & Nevis has agreed to the inclusion of three weight categories of women's boxing for future editions of the Commonwealth Games.

After women's boxing was included in the Olympic program and as it makes its debuts next summer at the London 2012 Olympic Games, AIBA is delighted to welcome this new step in the development of the sport.

President Wu stated: "By having taken this decision, the hopes and dreams of many young female boxers will come true after their lifetime ambitions to win medals at the Commonwealth Games was made possible.

"Hundreds of women are training very hard to compete at national, continental and international level and I am convinced that a lot of these women will relish competing at the Commonwealth Games."
