BOUT 123 - Maitituersun Qiong CHN vs Kavaliauskas Egidijus LTU (BLUE - Winner)

After eight competition day in the AIBA World Championships, Lithuania's Beijing Olympian Egidijus Kavaliauskas is the last hope from AIBA 'Road to Baku' members. The welterweight will face Ireland's Roy Sheehan in the round of 16 for a quota place at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Only one AIBA 'Road to Baku' boxer could join Kavaliauskas this Monday 3 October. AIBA Youth World Championships bronze medallist, 19-year-old Kyrgyz Islomzhon Dalibaev finished fourth at the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore last year. His dream was to secure his place at the 2012 Olympic Games. The young Kyrgyz moved up a weight class this year and was competing in his first international tournament in the middleweight division.

Dalibaev had to face European Championships bronze medallist, 22-year-old Bulgarian Mladen Manev who already competed at an AIBA World Championships, in 2009. The AIBA 'Road to Baku' boxer had a three points deficit after the first round, tried to reduce it but faced a very experienced Manev who kept his advantage after six minutes (10:7). Dalibaev stormed his Bulgarian opponent in the final round but the European had an excellent footwork to finally win the bout by 17:10.
