A press conference was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on 13 September 2011 regarding the 2012 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships & 2012 London Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament.
AIBA President, Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu, the Vice-President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Mr. Duan Shijie, the President of the Chinese Boxing Federation, Mr. Chang Jianping and the Mayor of Qinghuangdao City, Mr. Zhu Haowen attended the event and jointly lighted up the countdown timer, marking the start of the organization of the 2012 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships.
With 253 days to go, Qinhuangdao stands ready to welcome the world from 21 May to 3 June 2012. His Mayor expressed that the Organizing Committee, in active coordination with the Chinese Boxing Federation, will try its best to host one of the most spectacular Women's Boxing Championships ever. And AIBA President showed his confidence in the host city.
Knowing that this Championships will be the only Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women's boxing, a massive interest from national and international media is expected.
