As of 6 September 2011, AIBA officially excluded the Romanian Boxing Federation as a member of AIBA. The decision to exclude the Romanian Boxing Federation is currently being contested before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Further to its meeting held on 1 August in Astana, the AIBA Executive Committee made the decision to exclude the RBF as no election for a new President was conducted by 31 August 2011.
Since the requested election for presidency did not take place and following the AIBA Executive Committee decision, the RBF lost its AIBA membership rights effective from 6 September 2011.
