With 12 contests on the day's agenda, Abdelkader Chadi (57kg) was the only home boxer to secure victory (19:3 over Prince Octopus Dzanie of Ghana) while Abdelillah Nhaila (MAR) outscored Abderrahim Mechenouai 17:6 in the 51kg class and Rachid Tariket was completely outboxed by Hastings Bwalya (ZAM) 16:2 in the 64kg division.

Bwalya was in top form as he marched to victory, proving too quick and strong for Tariket and is now only one of two Zambians to have made it this far in the tournament - Evance Chungu being the other in the 51kg class.

Tunisia remains the only unbeaten nation with eight victories on the trot followed by Algeria with two defeats, and Morocco and Egypt three apiece but with Olympic spots on the line over the next two days, things could change dramatically.

The 48kg, 54kg, 60kg, 69kg, 81kg, +91kg semifinals will take place on Sunday followed by 51kg, 57kg, 64kg, 75kg, 91kg semis on Monday.

All divisions from 48kg to 75kg will have bronze medal bouts on Tuesday with the top three finishers confirming their seat to Beijing while the finalists in the 81kg and 91kg and only the gold medallist in the +91kg classes will qualify.
