Speaking after the final curtain had come down on the AIBA World Championships Chicago 2007 on Saturday, Dr. Wu highlighted the outstanding effort made by the Local Organising Committee, the high level of officiating and the calibre of the competition as three most memorable aspects of the 14th edition of the AIBA World Championships.

"The manner in which Chicago has been able to successfully host this tournament, in the limited time span, is nothing short of exceptional," Dr. Wu said. "This tournament will go down as the greatest world championships in the history of AIBA.

"With the 11 gold medals spread throughout seven countries and 80 boxers from 37 countries having qualified for the Olympics, this is a perfect illustration of the new AIBA and its honest and transparent officiating.

"The entire two week period has been a huge success, starting with the AIBA Congress where a complete set of reforms were approved and a new look, endorsed which embraces the new AIBA era. And now we have come to the end of an outstanding World Championships which has been of the highest standard with 557 boxers from 101 countries and attracted impressive numbers of media and spectators throughout. I couldn't be happier."

The next event on the AIBA calendar is the test event for the Beijing Olympic Games ''Good Luck Beijing'' - in Beijing from November 15-23.
