Olympians battle at Mediterranean Games

The Mediterranean Games has become the battling ground for Beijing Olympians who are competing against one another in the quarter and semi-finals this week in Italy, beginning with a victory for Olympian Jose Kelvin de la Nieve Linare (ESP) who headed into the 48kg semi-finals after defeating fellow Olympian Redouane Bouchtouk (MAR) 3:0.


Olympians continued to face off with Adem Kilicci (TUR), competing in his new weight category of 75kg, going up against Said Rachidi (MAR) were he won 4:2 entering the semifinals were he will compete against French rising star Mathieu Bauderlique.


Furthermore, Olympians Hicham Mesbahi (MAR) and Algerian Abdelhalim Ouradi will battle in the semifinals for a spot in the 54kg finals.


Anticipated excitement builds with Olympic bronze medallist Yakup Kilic (TUR) entering the 60kg semifinals after defeating Georgios Danatsidis (CYP) 12:1, going up against Olympian and World Championships silver medallist Dominico Valentino (ITA) in the 60kg division tomorrow afternoon. 


Alexis Vastine (FRA), Olympic bronze medallist, will go up against Presidents Cup bronze medallist Hamza Hassini (TUN) in the 64kg semifinals after a 14:3 win against Dzemal Fetahovic (BIH). Hassini previously defeated Hamza Kramolu (ALG) 13:9 preparing him for tomorrow's bout against Vastine.
