The members of a new AIBA Executive Committee Bureau were confirmed on Friday at the AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007.
The new AIBA Statutes, which were approved at the recent Extraordinary Congress in Chicago, states that the AIBA Executive Committee Bureau will function in place of the Executive Committee for all matters addressed by the AIBA President requiring settlement between two meetings of the Executive Committee.
It states that the Bureau must consist of the AIBA President and three Vice Presidents, including the Executive Vice-President and one Executive Committee member appointed by the President.
AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu will lead the five-member bureau, which consists of AIBA Executive Vice-President Mr. Gofur Rahkimov (UZB), AIBA Vice-Presidents Dr. Humbert Furgoni (FRA) and Dr. Abdellah Bessalem (ALG), and AIBA Executive Committee member Dr. Charles Butler (USA).
The AIBA Executive Director is also part of the EC Bureau but does not have the right to vote. The term of office is the same as that of the Executive Committee.
All decisions taken by the EC Bureau shall be ratified by the Executive Committee at its next meeting.
