AIBA's Women Boxing Ambassador Anna Laurell says having women's boxing included in the Olympic Games program would "mean everything." Laurell, 29, from Sweden is a two-times 75kg world champion and has competed in all five editions of the AIBA World Women's Championships. Now all she wants is to realize her Olympic dream.
"It would mean that we could do what we love to do all the time," Laurell said. "We wouldn't have to work aside of the training and we wouldn't have to fight so much to have tournaments and develop more. It would mean everything to us." (click here to watch)
AIBA officially presented a proposal to the International Olympics Committee (IOC) last month to include women's boxing in the Olympic Games. A decision from the IOC is expected on August 13.
