More than 150 Chinese female boxers and officials gave their full support behind AIBA's recent proposal to include women's boxing in the 2012 Olympic Games by completing a signing ceremony at the Chinese Women's National Championships held last month in the Yunnan Province.

The event, which ran from March 15th-20th, saw 158 female boxers plus their coaches and tournament officials sign a banner to support the entry of women's boxing in the 2012 Olympic Games. AIBA put forward an exciting and diverse proposal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) last month for women's boxing to be included in the 2012 Olympic Games. A decision from the IOC will be disclosed on 13 August, 2009 in Berlin.   

"We are very excited and very happy to join today's activity because the Olympic Games is the dream of every female boxer and we hope we can do something for the inclusion of women's boxing in the 2012 Olympic Games," the boxers said.

The Chinese Women's National Championships welcomed 10 of the 11 Chinese medalists from the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships Ningbo City 2008 with 50kg silver medallist Li Siyuan and 63kg bronze medallist Ma Jianxia the only two to suffer defeat. The remaining eight AIBA medalists all managed to retain their respective titles.
