October 14, 2007 - AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu completed a ground-breaking visit to the Russian capital, Moscow on Sunday following three days of meetings with the country's sports leaders to discuss the future collaboration and development of boxing in the country.
President Wu's visit included meetings with the Mayor of Moscow Mr. Yuri Luzhkov, President of the National Olympic Committee Mr. Leonid Tyagachev, IOC member Mr. Vitaly Smirnov and the President of the Boxing Federation of Russia (RBF) General Evgeny Murov.

President Wu's meeting with Gen. Murov on Friday included detailed discussions on the future of boxing in Russia and the new relationship between AIBA and the new RBF administration.

President Wu, who was also accompanied by AIBA Executive Vice President Mr. Gofur Rakhimov, emphasized that the international boxing family would not be complete without Russia's involvement given the outstanding level of all aspects of boxing in the country.
He also informed the RBF of the suspension of Mr. Eduard Khusainov as AIBA Vice President and the reasons behind the transfer of the hosting rights of 2007 AIBA World Boxing Championships from Moscow to Chicago.
President Wu's candour and sincerity was rewarded with Gen. Murov's full support for AIBA. "Let bygones be bygones," Gen. Murov said. "We shall work together for the future of boxing."
Both President Wu and Gen. Murov pledged a closer cooperation and relationship between AIBA and the RBF to close the meeting. Later on the same day, this pledge was supported by a letter addressed to AIBA signed by Gen. Murov.
In this letter, Gen. Murov formally confirmed that since June 27 Mr. Khusainov did not occupy any position in the Boxing Federation of Russia and henceforth withdraws the Federation's nomination of Mr. Khusainov for the position of AIBA Vice President and chairman of the AIBA Continental Bureau.
