Almost all best boxers on stage on Day 4 in the "Unidad Deportiva López Mateos" of Guadalajara, Mexico, kept the promises raised themselves to the occasion and book their tickets to the quarterfinals of the 1st AIBA Youth World Championships 2008.
One of the most awaited boxers in the ring was the local Oscar Molina, who beat Austria's Marcos Nader in the 69kgs weight category, and will now face Romanian Bogdan Juratoni for a place onto the podium.
In the afternoon session, all went good for Cuba's Juan Garcia and Ukraine's Volodymyr Savenko, in the 60kgs and 75kgs divisions. The Cuban national Youth Champion Garcia overcame Turkey's Yakup Sener, and he is now awaited by Ireland's Raymond Moylett who created one of the biggest surprises of the day driving out from the tournament one of the medal contenders, Wales' Fred Evans. For his part, Volodymir beat Armenia's Tigran Armenakyan for the joy of the Ukrainian fans present in Guadalajara.
In the evening session, the 64kgs class saw Zdenek Chladek from Czech Republic and Roman Usikov from Russia made their way to the quarterfinals by winning over Ukraine's Igor Pankevych and American Samoa's Togafao Aieto, respectively.
Forty-four bouts are on the list for Day 5, the quarterfinals day. Among the many thrilling bouts in prospect, great expectation is set for a clash in the 60kgs category between Kazakhstan's Daniyar Yeleussinov, 2006 cadet World Champion in the 46kgs class, and Viacheslav Gudenko from Ukraine.
It will be the last day with two sessions in place: the first starting at 14, the second at 18.
