Introduction

The 1st Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament takes place in Bangkok, Thailand from January 25th to February 2nd, 2008. The venue of the competition is the DPU University (www.dpu.ac.th) with 141 boxers from 28 countries chasing 19 Olympic qualifriyng spots over 10 weight categories, from 48 kg to 91 kg. The Olympic qualifying tournament is conducted in accordance with AIBA Competition Rules (4 rounds of 2 minutes and 1 minute rest between rounds). Preliminary bouts will take place from January 25-28th, with quarterfinals being held on the 29th and 30th. February 1st is semifinal day followed by the finals and awarding ceremony on February 2nd.
