AIBA President, Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, wanted to create a
Special Development Vehicle to Promote the Sport of Boxing by bringing together the best people and offering the best opportunities in the world to develop the sport. This is how the project to build an AIBA Boxing Academy was born.
Concept
The concept is to establish, for the AIBA National Member Federations, a center of excellence including comprehensive training facilities & programs for athletes as well as education & development programs for the entire boxing family (athletes, coaches, R&Js, ringside physicians, sport managers, administrators, etc.).
Main ProgramsThe Academy Programs will include:
• Physical training programs for boxers
• Intellectual programs for all participants
• Educational programs for junior and youth
• Sports science programs
• AIBA integrated manuals and guidelines in all areas
Educational tools available:
• Classroom style courses by teachers and trainers
• E-learning (on-line education) - Internet
• Teleconference education
• Audio/visual training
• Practical training
ParticipationFor Boxers:
• Through National Olympic Committees for IOC Solidarity Programs
• Through AIBA Development Programs
• National Member Federations to use as training site
Coaches:
• Through National Olympic Committees for IOC Solidarity Programs
• Through AIBA Development Programs
• Individual choice to use
Selection of ParticipantsIn regards to the AIBA Grant Program Case:
• AIBA will send application forms to all National Member Federations to apply
• AIBA will annually review the applications to decide which participants are accepted by the AIBA Academy Acceptance Committee and AIBA Grant Program
In regards to the IOC Solidarity Program:
• These programs will be accepted in priority
