INTRODUCTION

The 1st AIBA President Cup, taking place from May 25-31 in Taipei, Taiwan, the home of the AIBA President, Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, marks an occasion to see many of the best boxers from around the world in action for the last time prior to the Olympic Games.  

The tournament, created to pay homage to the AIBA President who is successfully reforming the sport of boxing, features specially invited countries who will send their best boxers, many of those already qualified for Beijing. Each country can send one boxer in a preferred weight category.  

A total of 126 boxers will compete across the 11 weight categories (from 48kg to +91kg) with the semifinals and finals to be held after Thursday's rest day on Friday and Saturday respectively.

The venue of the competition is the Hsinchuang Stadium Taipei County.
