ITALY, RUSSIA AND GREECE GAIN THE LAST THREE EUROPEAN SPOTS TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Vittorio Parrinello (ITA, 54 kg), Andrey Balanov (RUS, 69kg), and Georgios Gazis (GRE, 75kg) booked the last available tickets to the Beijing Olympics, by winning their bronze contests in the last day of the 2nd AIBA Olympic Qualifiying Tournament. Introduction

The 2nd AIBA European Olympic Qualifying Tournament takes place in Greece, from April 6th to 13th. The Tournament will be held at Olympic Weight-Lifting Venue in the country's capital, Athens.  The boxers will chase 26 Olympic qualifiying spots over 11 weight categories, from 48 kg to +91 kg. The Olympic qualifying tournament is conducted in accordance with AIBA Competition Rules (4 rounds of 2 minutes and 1 minute break between rounds). Preliminary bouts will take place between April 7th and 10th, with semifinals being held on the 11th after the rest day on the 10th. Finals and awarding ceremony will be celebrated on April 12nd.
