150 days before the start of the AIBA World Boxing Championships Doha 2015 which will be held this coming October, a special ceremony took place in Qatar with the presence of the AIBA Executive Director Mr Ho Kim.

The mascot, a fox, is named “Majed” which means ‘Noble’ in Arabic and represents the characteristics of being friendly, welcoming, active and respectful of others. The fox is a rare animal in Qatar, but it is a survivor and to help him to adapt to the life of the desert, he has his ears longer than his head to cool off and also has soft fur on the pads of the paws to protect him from the heat of the sand.

The Championships will take place from October 5 – 18, 2015.
