The AIBA Executive Committee examined the case of Mr. Eduard Khusainov on the final day of its meeting at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday.
The members were reminded that Mr. Khusainov was temporarily suspended on February 8, 2007, following allegations published in the media about an involvement in terrorist activities.
The Executive Committee came to the conclusion that those allegations were ill founded and renounces any investigation in this regard.
However, the AIBA Executive Committee has learnt of other facts and circumstances, which require further investigation. For this reason the Executive Committee is not in a position to lift the temporary suspension and decided unanimously to maintain the suspension. It also formed an ad-hoc Committee with a mandate to investigate Mr. Khusainov’s case and report to the Executive Committee as soon as possible.
This Committee is composed of the following persons: AIBA Vice President Dr. Joseph Ayeni (Nigeria), Executive Committee member Mrs. Bettan Andersson (Sweden), Legal Commission chairman Mr. Ricardo Contreras (Mexico), Prof. Piermarco Zen-Ruffinen (Switzerland), AIBA Executive Director Mr. Ho Kim.
